Driver heads
Low-spin vs high-launch driver: which fits you?
A low-spin driver is for fast swingers who spin it too much: ELDRICK's rules lock one in at 105 mph or more with spin over 3,200 rpm and a face within 2° of the path, and it's rare below 90 mph. Slower swingers who need launch get a Light head under 80 mph, plus loft and a higher-launch shaft, rather than a special high-launch head.
| Driver speed | Spin target | Most common head | Low spin share |
|---|---|---|---|
| 110+ mph | 1,900-2,500 rpm | Core (61%) | 17% |
| 100-109 mph | 1,950-2,550 rpm | Core (65%) | 13% |
| 90-99 mph | 2,000-2,600 rpm | Core (68%) | 7% |
| 80-89 mph | 2,100-2,700 rpm | Core (48%) | 0% |
| 70-79 mph | 2,200-2,800 rpm | Core (41%) | 0% |
| Under 70 mph | 2,300-3,000 rpm | Not enough fittings | Not enough fittings |

ELDRICK's golfers skew fast, so Light heads are rare here.
Spin is a speed-band question
The right spin depends on speed. At 110 mph ELDRICK's target is 1,900 to 2,500 rpm; under 70 mph it's 2,300 to 3,000. Spin that looks high for a tour player can be perfect for you.
Before reaching for a low-spin head, ELDRICK uses loft. Spin at or above your band's step-down number drops loft one step. A golfer at 105-109 mph spinning 2,800 rpm with a normal launch keeps 10.5° and manages spin through the shaft and head profile. See driver loft by swing speed.
Launch comes from loft and shaft
ELDRICK doesn't have a high-launch driver head category. Launch is set by loft and by the shaft's launch profile. Slower swingers get more of both, and under 80 mph a Light head that's easier to swing fast.

Frequently asked questions
What swing speed do you need for a low-spin driver?
105 mph or more in ELDRICK's rules, with spin over 3,200 rpm and a face within 2° of your path.
What is good driver spin?
It depends on speed. ELDRICK's targets run from 1,900-2,500 rpm at 110+ mph to 2,300-3,000 rpm under 70 mph.
Should a slow swinger use a low-spin driver?
No. Under 80 mph ELDRICK fits a Light head, and slower swingers usually need launch and carry more than lower spin.
Is a low-spin driver less forgiving?
Generally, low-spin heads put weight forward and trade some forgiveness for lower spin. That's why ELDRICK keeps them for fast, high-spin swings.
